Since 2020, the criminal case has been under review in the general jurisdiction court of first instance in the Kotayk region of the Republic of Armenia regarding our clients A.A. and A.S.A. for allegedly committing group murder and acquiring and possessing weapons and ammunition. These alleged offenses are provided for by point 7 of part 2 of Article 104 and part 2 of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, adopted in 2003. The accused A.A. has been in detention for more than 5 years, while A.S.A. has been in detention for more than 2 years.
Lawyers Edgar Ayvazyan and Gurgen Nersisyan from the law firm “LSA” managed to convincingly argue and prove in court that the accused A.S.A. has no connection to the incident at all. After completing the examination of the evidence, the prosecutor’s office was forced to retreat, and on 20.09.2024, the public prosecutor decided to change the charges against A.A., qualifying his actions under part 1 of Article 104 and part 1 of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, while also abandoning the charges against A.S.A. A.S.A., who had been in detention for more than 2 years, was released from the courtroom by the court’s decision.
