Today, D.H., a client of the “LSA” Law Firm (lawyer Edgar Ayvazyan) who had been convicted of murder, was granted early conditional release and freed from the courtroom.
Such cases inspire confidence that the institutions and mechanisms for early release of convicts in the Republic of Armenia are becoming increasingly effective, allowing prisoners to determine their prospects for early release through their behavior.
Our client, D.H., committed the crime at the age of 19 under military service conditions. From the very first day, he provided a full confession and cooperated with the investigation. During his 7.5 years of imprisonment, he actively participated in numerous cultural and social events, worked, was admitted to and studied at a law faculty (which he is expected to graduate from in May), and was repeatedly commended by the penitentiary service. He also took measures to support the victim's family.
Both the penitentiary and probation services issued objective and positive assessments, for which we express our gratitude. Despite the prosecutor’s office making every effort, as usual, to discredit these reports and keep D.H. in imprisonment, Judge Arshak Harutyunyan of the Kotayk Region Court of General Jurisdiction rendered a fair and well-reasoned judicial decision, allowing D.H. to return home.
The "LSA" Law Office extends its deep gratitude to the judge for making an objective and humanitarian decision.
