Our foreign client released from custody and sentenced to a fine

In October 2025, a foreign citizen, Y.C., applied to our law office to represent his interests in a criminal case that had been investigated by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia and submitted to the court with an indictment.

Before contacting our office, during the preliminary investigation, Y.C. had been charged under Article 457(1) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (use of a forged document) and Article 469(1) (illegal crossing of the state border). A detention order had been applied to her as a preventive measure.

Shortly after attorney Andranik Mnatsakanyan from our office assumed Y.C.’s defense, on October 13, 2025, the trial of the criminal case against her concluded in the Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan City.

Due to the properly chosen defense strategy and the court’s objective approach, the detention imposed as a preventive measure during the preliminary hearing was replaced by administrative supervision and a travel ban, and Y.C. was released in the courtroom.

Moreover, on the same day, by the verdict announced, the court sentenced Y.C. to a fine as the main punishment and, taking into account the fact that she had been in pre-trial detention for more than 50 days, released her from serving the punishment.

We express our gratitude to Judge Harutyun Manukyan for conducting a lawful trial and delivering a fair judicial act.
